Full-time position (1.0 FTE), 7.0 hours per day, 10 months per year, school calendar

  • Provide engaging and rigorous ELA instruction to high school students in Alternative Education and in CTE programs
  • Create and implement lessons that meet the ELA CCSS (Common Core State Standards)
  • Prepare students for the ELA Regents Exam
  • Use data and assessments to identify student learning gaps and to monitor student progress
  • Develop literacy skills in students so that they can be college or career ready
  • Collaborate with the counterpart ELA instructors with regards to the high school curriculum
  • Monitor students’ academic progress including, but not limited to, progress/marking period grades and attendance
  • Implement 504 plans and IEPs (Individualized Education Plans) for students with diverse learning needs
  • Consult regularly with parents, teachers, home school counselors and all others involved with the education of the student
  • Maintain discipline in the classroom
  • Carry out all other duties as assigned
