BUILDING MAINTENANCE MECHANIC26 OM24

REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF FACILITIES III AND WORKING FOREPERSON

DESCRIPTION: Full-time position (1.0 FTE), 8 hours per day (7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. shift), 12 months per year

The following work activities are listed as examples only and in no event shall an employee be limited to only those examples listed here:

  • Builds, repairs and refinishes desks, tables, chairs, cupboards, etc.;
  • Installs, maintains and repairs a wide variety of electrical and plumbing fixtures and equipment, including heating and ventilating systems;
  • Builds, installs, maintains and repairs a variety of playground and gym equipment;
  • Plasters and paints walls, partitions and ceilings;
  • Lays and repairs tile and stone floors and walls;
  • Repairs walks, curbs, drives and building foundations;
  • Oversees and takes part in ordinary building cleaning operations;
  • Makes inspections of property to ascertain repair needs;
  • Estimates materials required for repairs;
  • Keeps daily time and material records;
  • May adjust computerized temperature controls, fire controls and or make minor telephone repairs;
  • May test and maintain cooling tower, chiller and glycol system’s chemicals;
  • May make minor repairs to fire alarm systems and components;
  • Builds classrooms, shops, suspended ceilings, etc.;
  • May wire outlets, lights, breaker panels and install and maintain systems;
  • May troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical problems;
  • Supervises and participates in a general grounds maintenance program;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
