  • Keeps records of receipts and expenditures and allocates receipts to proper funds
  • Maintains bond and debt service register and oversees the management of bond retirement
  • Acts as liaison with district independent auditors
PAYROLL SPECIALIST057 CBO25/26

LOCATION: GST BOCES CENTRAL BUSINESS OFFICE

Full-time (1.0 FTE), 7.5 hours per day, 12 months per year position

  • Maintain payroll file; process bi-weekly/ semimonthly payroll; enter payroll information for all time-sheets, and staff; enter claim forms/ vouchers information; verify and post timesheets; calculate and post time sheets; input initial salaries and updates; print salary notices
  • Accounts Payable (related to payroll): Open pay schedule; post payroll to A/P; add payroll deductions payroll; verify payments; order checks
  • Generate quarterly tax reports
  • Generate W-2’s
  • Work with the district to process retirement incentive payments
  • Back-up all aspects of ERS/TRS: Prepare monthly/annual reports; verify prior years’ service
  • Working with district’s flexible spending program plans
  • Create and distribute payroll schedule to districts
  • Assist with salary projections for negotiations
  • Work with district’s third party 403(b) plans
  • Annual fiscal roll-over
  • Work with multiple district’s payroll
  • Perform other duties as assigned
SENIOR ACCOUNT CLERK - PAYROLL058 CBO25/26

Full-time position (1.0 FTE), 7.5 hours per day, 12 months per year

  • Responsible for all facets of preparing and delivering bi-weekly payrolls in a NYS school district setting including formulating and communicating payroll schedules to district employees; accumulating and data entering of employee timesheets, calculating regular and overtime rates of pay and all executing deductions including garnishees and tax shelter annuities.
  • Responsibility may include preparation of payroll reporting requirements of the school district including, but not limited to: Social Security; Federal and NYS taxes; NYS Teacher’s Retirement System; NYS Employee’s Retirement System; Civil Service; Disability and Workman’s Compensation as well as all calendar year and fiscal year end reports.
  • Maintain employee attendance records in accordance with various employee contracts.
  • Establish and maintain payroll files.
  • Conduct and maintain regular communications with all levels of school district personnel.
  • Conducts routine correspondence on matters where policies and procedures are well defined
  • May compile payroll data, prepare and check payrolls
  • Operates personal computer, copier, computing, calculator and other office machines
  • Provides audit support as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned
