Job Description

Full-time position (1.0 FTE), 7.0 hours per day, 10 months per year, school calendar

  • Assist with instructing juniors and seniors with rigorous and engaging classroom instruction, and hands-on skills that will prepare students to be college and career ready in the Auto Tech industry
  • Collaborate with the Auto Tech counterparts on maintaining a high quality program
  • Assist with providing supervision and classroom management to all students
  • Assist in preparing students for the national assessment in ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) student certification in Maintenance and Light Repair
  • Assist in monitoring students’ academic progress including, but not limited to progress/marking period grades, attendance, hands-on performance skills
  • Assist with implementing 504 Accommodation Plans and IEPs (Individualized Education Plans) for students with diverse learning needs
  • Keep current with changes and developments in the Auto Tech industry
  • Assist in communicating regularly with parents, teachers, home school counselors and all others involved with the education of all students
  • Uphold the BOCES core values: service, collaboration, leadership, and integrity
  • Carry out all other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

Valid NYS Teaching Assistant Certification; must possess at least a Level 1 Teaching Assistant Certificate

  • Extensive experience working in the Auto Tech field is required
  • Ability to handle heavy lifting (50+ pounds) is required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and work ethic
  • Willingness to grow as a professional
     
    SALARY:   Per Educational Association contract.  Plus comprehensive benefit package.
