Job Description

Full-time (1.0 FTE) position; 7.5 hours per day; 12-month position

  • The primary purpose of the position is to free the time of the director and supervisors for planning, supervising, policy-making, and attention to duties of the department requiring specific knowledge in instructional support services;
  • Assists director and supervisors in planning and orchestrating regional professional development events, including working with presenters and ensuring their needs are met for successful trainings;
  • Assists director and supervisors by expediting the preparation of reports and the maintenance of records in PD Tracker, WinCap, and other tools;
  • Assists director and supervisors in planning and administering programming and training of staff in organizational methods, procedures and other non-technical fields;
  • Assists in interviews of support staff and advises director and supervisors on hiring and related personnel matters;
  • Confers with director and supervisors on departmental policy and operation, exercising resourcefulness in the solution of complex administrative problems with tact and courtesy;
  • Communicates with district personnel on behalf of the department;
  • Exercises independent judgement to perform related work necessary for the confidential, efficient, organized execution of administrative functions of the department;
  • Exhibits attention to detail, accuracy, dependability, organization, and strong communication skills while carrying out the duties of the position;
  • Orients and trains new employees on departmental policy and operation;
  • Plans and supervises the collection, processing, tabulation and analysis of statistical and financial data, including travel paperwork and timesheets, using tools such as PD Tracker and WinCap;
  • Prepares special studies on the operations of the department and makes confidential investigations as required by director;
  • Reads incoming mail and answers general correspondence, redirecting as appropriate;
  • Schedules periodic staff conferences for entire department;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications



  1. Graduation from a N.Y.S. registered or regionally accredited college or University with a Bachelor's Degree and one (1) year of responsible supervisory office experience in a public agency or private business which shall have involved supervision; or
  1. Graduation from a NYS registered or regionally accredited two-year college with an Associate’s Degree and three (3) years of responsible office experience in a public agency or private business which shall have involved supervision; or
  1. Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and five (5) years of responsible office experience in a public agency or private business which shall have involved supervision; or
  1. Any equivalent combination of experience and training as defined in (A), (B) and (C) above.                   

This is a competitive Civil Service position.  The selected candidate must possess this title, or be among the top three after taking the required Civil Service exam for this title.

Salary:  Salary is dependent upon related work experience, plus comprehensive benefit package.
