Job Description


START DATE:  Expected September 1, 2019; exact date to be determined

Full-time position (1.0 FTE); hours per day are dependent upon work location; 10 months plus 20 days 

Job Duties: Develop, promote and conduct regional and targeted professional development and technical assistance to regional school administrators, teachers, support staff and parents and community members in the areas of culturally responsive educational practices, supporting bilingual/English language learners with disabilities, as well as addressing issues of equity within the region.  

  • Preference will be given to candidates who have direct experience in:
    • Evaluation, instruction and intervention to bilingual/English language learners
    • Knowledge of language acquisition and its impact on bilingual/ELL learners
    • Direct service to students with disabilities who are also bilingual/ELL learners
    • Knowledge and experience in supporting culturally responsive frameworks for education and systems of support to provide educational equity to students across socio-economic status, race, ethnicity and gender variables 
  • Skills in the areas of verbal communication, group facilitation, collaboration, organization, initiative, flexibility, and knowledge of NYS special education regulations and evidence-based instructional practices are critical.
  • Position will require frequent/daily local travel within the GST BOCES & Broome-Tioga BOCES regions as required by the OSE Work Plan. 
  • Individual will be required to attend NYSED PIT/TAP directed professional development monthly and/or weekly as well as Partnership Network Annual Meeting in Albany, NY area 1x/year
  • Individual will carry out all other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  include a Master’s degree in Special Education, Vocational Rehabilitation, Psychology, School Psychology, Reading or Speech and Language or Bachelor’s degree in Special Education and experience in providing professional development and technical assistance.  Culturally Responsive Educator will provide training and technical assistance on research-based instructional teaching and learning strategies.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in teaching or provision of services with, or providing training on, technical assistance relating to transition-age students with disabilities in schools and/or community service agencies.
  • Knowledge of special education law, regulations and policy, and experience providing professional development, planning and implementing school improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in the areas of agency collaboration, knowledge of NYS special education regulations, and work-based learning opportunities preferred


Salary:  Per Educational Association contract.  Plus comprehensive benefits package.
