Job Description

LOCATION:   Greater Southern Tier BOCES STEM Academy, 2634 Goff Rd., Corning, NY

Full-time position, 8 hours per day, 12 months per year

  • Exemplifies the GST BOCES’ values of service, leadership, collaboration and integrity;
  • Embodies an energetic and highly motivated work ethic needed to assist with the design, development, and overall supervision of the STEM Academy;
  • Is knowledgeable and has experience with instructional technology, inquiry/project-based learning and interdisciplinary learning;
  • Assists in the development of the vision, rationale and action plan for implementing innovative business opportunities within the P-Tech offerings of Advanced Technology, Health care, Clean Energy and Information Technology;
  • Is responsible for assisting in the recruitment process including placement, ongoing district communication/training, and evaluation of student enrollment;
  • Assists in the drive of exceptional student outcomes and embodies a deep personal commitment and dedication to working with under-served students and their families;
  • Is responsible for assisting the development, facilitation and evaluation of the Summer Bridge Program;
  • Demonstrates strong writing and oral communication skills and prepares and submits necessary reports as needed to supervisor;
  • Has primary responsibility for administration of student discipline on the campus;
  • Assists the Principal in the evaluation of certified, paraprofessional and support personnel, as directed by the Principal;
  • Assists in the evaluation and scheduling of school;
  • Assists in the evaluation of student progress;
  • Assists the Principal in curriculum development;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
  • Valid NYS Certification in School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS) or School Building Leader (SBL)
  • Strong educational leadership in the areas of curriculum, program development and assessment.
  • Demonstrated success in promoting student achievement.
  • Decision making skills and communication skills are significant to the job.  Candidate must be knowledgeable of best practices in teaching methodology, behavior management of students.  Candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to function effectively as a team member and work collaboratively.
