Job Description

LOCATION: WATKINS GLEN CSD

Full-time position (1.0 FTE), 8 hours per day, 12 months per year; Competitive Civil Service Position

  • Configure, install and support computer work stations, and peripheral equipment, including Interactive White Boards and network printers
  • Install, maintain and support standard network software on networked PC’s
  • Install various network equipment including network printers
  • Provide desktop support of networked computers
  • Troubleshoot technology-related problems at the end-user level and provide desktop support of networked computers
  • Provide customer support on networked applications
  • Create and update processes and procedures to ensure they take into account new working practices as part of continual improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

This is a competitive Civil Service position.  The selected candidate must possess this title or be among the top three of a current, binding Civil Service list for the title or if no binding Civil Service list be in the top three after taking the required Civil Service exam for the title.  Candidates must possess either:

  1. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two (2) year college with an Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; OR
  2. Completion of sixty (60) college credit hours, fifteen (15) of which shall have been in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; OR
  3. Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and completion of a one (1) year business certificate program that includes computer coursework and either 1) 30 college credits or 2) one (1) year of experience working in a business setting requiring the use of personal computers and multiple software; OR
  4. Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and two (2) years’ experience in installation and support of personal computers, computer applications, LANS/WANS and/or data communications; OR
  5. A satisfactory equivalent combination of training and experience.

*NOTE:  The BOCES’ Computer Network Technology (Career & Technical Education) program and other programs from other states similar to the BOCES’ Computer Network Technology (Career & Technical Education) program have been deemed equivalent to the one-year business certificate program that includes computer coursework.

Successful candidates for the position will also possess:

  • Good Communication skills (written and interpersonal) required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, maintain and support networked PC’s.
  • Working knowledge of Windows 7/10, MS Office Suite, Apple iPads and PC configuration.
  • A high degree of logical reasoning and resourcefulness; sound judgment; tact; and patience.

 

Salary:  $32,000 - $40,000, dependent on related work experience.  Plus comprehensive benefits package.
