Job Description

Full-time (1.0 FTE), 8 hours per day, 12-month position

  •  Supervises and evaluates the performance of staff members 
  • Coordinates the development, writing, and procuring of public/private educational grant funds available to participating school districts 
  • Research possible funding sources to develop programs in districts
  • Develops contacts with funding sources to facilitate grants procurement 
  • Provides fiscal monitoring of the grant monies for participating districts
  • Shepherds the grant writing process in a manner to maximize success
  • Makes recommendations to district administration on areas in which grant applications may be favorably received
  • Prepares reports and conducts special projects as assigned
  • Discusses with various governmental officials’ opportunities for grants
  • Attends public meetings as departmental resource to determine areas of public concern for programs and relays this to administration
  • Expresses oneself effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Leads with cultural responsiveness and social emotional competence, and aligns work with the NY Inspires initiatives
  • Does related work as required
Job Qualifications

GRANT WRITING SUPERVISOR

This will be a provisional appointment pending Civil Service exam.  The selected candidate must possess this title or be among the top three of a current, binding Civil Service list for the title or if no binding Civil Service list, be in the top three after taking the required Civil Service exam for the title.  Candidates must meet the following Civil Service requirements:

  1. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master’s Degree and four (4) years of professional level work experience or its part-time equivalent involving the development, administration or analysis of program or projects; or
  2. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Baccalaureate Degree and six (6) years of professional level work experience, or its part-time equivalent involving the development, administration or analysis of programs or projects.

OR

  COORDINATOR OF GRANT SERVICES

NYS Certification in the area of School District Leader or School Building Administrator

  •    Proven skills in all areas of responsibility listed above
  •    Demonstrated supervisory, leadership and organizational skills
