Job Description

Full-time (1.0 FTE); 7.0 hour day, 10-month school calendar position

This is a LPN position which involves caring for the medical needs of students placed in BOCES classrooms located in a special education host site program. Assistance with all medical aspects of the students’ day is expected.                                          

• Students need assistance with areas of daily living skills which may include but are not limited to; toileting, personal care, feeding, maintaining safety during transitions, redirection, task initiation, communication, interacting with others and supervision for sensory activities and routines.
• Students requires daily tube feedings
• Students need constant monitoring during and after feedings
• Regular assessment of respiratory needs
• The employee must possess a valid NYS Licensed Practical Nurse license and be physically able and willing to meet the needs of the students.
• Dispensing medications, under direction of R.N.
• Completing Medicaid paperwork, under the direction of R.N.
• Assist with student arrival and departure
• Help students carry out prescribed physical exercises
• Helps student with daily living skills/hygiene
• Follows medical protocol
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Civil Service Non-Competitive Classification

Must possess a valid NYS Licensed Practical Nurse license; experience in working with disabled students is preferred.   The employee must be physically able and willing to meet the needs of the student.  The LPN will dispense medications under the directions of the R.N.  TCI training is required for this position.

 

SALARY:  Per Support Staff Association contract.  Package includes comprehensive benefits.
