DESCRIPTION: Full-time (1.0 FTE), 8-hour day, 12-month per year position
The Controller is responsible for directing the work of the Central Business Office, which provides payroll, accounts payable, accounting, purchasing, claims auditing, tax collection, fixed assets, co-op bid, and shared business official services to participating districts.

- Supervises and directs the Central Business Office staff, responsible for all personnel matters related to the Central Business Office Staff
- Develops, maintains, and administers policies and procedures for all Central Business Office functions
- Develops and allocates Central Business Office budget among component districts
- Oversees all financial and budgetary accounting operations, systems and controls, delegating responsibilities as deemed appropriate
- Advises districts on such matters as: Federal, State and local grant issues, property tax rates, internal controls, accounting and auditing standards, reporting and other matters as requested
- Advises districts’ management of their overall financial status and projects' year-end fund balance
- Coordinates and attends monthly financial meetings with all districts as requested
- Attends Board of Education meetings of the CBO Districts as requested
- Performs other related duties and attends various meetings as requested by participating districts
- Perform business administrator duties as requested by participating districts

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
DIRECTOR OF CENTRAL BUSINESS OFFICE:
NYS Certification in the area of School District Business Leader or School Business Administrator
- Proven skills in all the areas of responsibility listed above
- Demonstrated supervisory, leadership and organizational skills
SCHOOL BUSINESS EXECUTIVE:
The selected candidate must possess this title or be among the top three of a current, binding Civil Service list for the title or, if no binding Civil Service list, be in the top three after taking the required Civil Service exam for the title. Candidates must meet the following Civil Service requirements:
Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration or closely related field and three years of professional accounting, public or business administration experience, one year of which must have been in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
