Job Description

Full-time, (1.0 FTE) 7-hour day, 10-month, school calendar year position 

• Providing Social Work services to Preschool and Wildwood students
• Supporting two Special Education classrooms on the GST BOCES Wildwood Campus and Hornell Host Site
• Assist in promoting a positive environment within the classrooms and program and in promoting positive and cooperative working relationships
• Assist the school psychologist with the development of a social history of each student by obtaining information from parents and/or guardians and appropriate agencies
• Evaluate and re-evaluate short-term behavioral and academic objectives on a regular basis throughout the school year
• Provide counseling services for students in BOCES classrooms
• Develop and maintain communication with the students’ teachers, parents, school guidance counselors, social workers and other appropriate agencies
• Maintain files on students.  Documentation should include time spent and general content of session and progress
• Attend CSE meetings or other student support meetings as needed
• Refer as necessary to Mental Health Services outside the school environment
• Develop solutions focused on outcomes for social, emotional, behavioral and academic issues as they arise
• Assist with Therapeutic Crisis Intervention techniques as needed
• Carry out all other duties as assigned

 

Job Qualifications

Must possess a valid NYS Certification in School Social Worker and possess a Clinical or Master Social Worker License; Clinical Social Worker level is preferred

• Therapeutic Crisis Intervention is required for all Special Education positions
• Experience with students with special needs preferred
• Must be able to work collaboratively with the classroom/program team

 SALARY: Per Educational Association contract.  Plus comprehensive benefit package
