Job Description

Full-time (1.0 FTE), 10-month school calendar position

• 7 hours per day, 10 months per year, school calendar
• Instructing secondary students in the area of conservation, including the use of heavy equipment
• Monitoring student progress
• Maintaining discipline in the classroom and work sites
• Heavy lifting, walking distances on hilly terrain, working outside in all-weather elements throughout the year
• Visit and supervise students at internships and job sites
• Involvement in items such as Future Farmers of America, Envirothon, Conservation contests, encouraged
• Carry out all other duties as assigned by Administration

 

 

 

 

 

Job Qualifications

Valid NYS Teaching Certification; possession of the following certificates helpful: CDL Class A license; NYS Hunter Education Instructor in Hunter Education, Waterfowl Education, Trapper training and Bowhunter Education, NYS Erosion Control, OSHA training/trainer.

• Experience with Heavy Equipment is preferred
• Ability to handle heavy lifting and a willingness to work outdoors is required
• Experience, willingness, and ability to work with secondary students in both classroom, various hands-on settings and job site settings
• Have a background in agriculture, farming, natural resources and/or construction
• Have experience in the following: forestry, chain saw, surveying, aquaculture, natural resources, greenhouse production
• Experience with computers preferred
