1:1 LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE (LPN) and 1:1 REGISTERED NURSE (RN)

LOCATION: BROADWAY ACADEMY and ELMIRA CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT

Full-time (1.0 FTE); 7-hour day, 10-month, school calendar position

*This is a one-to-one position that requires a RN or LPN to care for the medical needs of a student placed in a BOCES classroom located in a special education host site program. Assistance with all medical aspects of the student’s day is expected.                              

• Students need assistance with areas of daily living skills which may include, but are not limited to; toileting, personal care, feeding, maintaining safety during transitions, redirection, task initiation, communication, interacting with others and supervision for sensory activities and routines.
• Students require daily tube feeding
• Students need constant monitoring during and after feeding
• Regular assessment of respiratory needs
• The employee must possess a valid NYS Licensed Practical Nurse license and be physically able and willing to meet the needs of the students.
• Dispensing medications, under the direction of R.N.
• Completing Medicaid paperwork, under the direction of R.N.
• Assist with student arrival and departure
• Help students carry out prescribed physical exercises
• Helps students with daily living skills/hygiene
• Follows medical protocol
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Civil Service Non-Competitive Classification

Must possess a valid NYS Registered or Practical Nurse License; experience in working with disabled students is preferred.   The employee must be physically able and willing to meet the needs of the student.  The LPN will dispense medications under the directions of the R.N. 

 

SALARY:  Per Support Staff Association contract.  Plus a comprehensive benefits package.
