Full-Time (1.0 FTE), 8-Hour Day, 12 Month Competitive Civil Service Position

  • Performs all duties associated with an inspector, planner, and supervisor in accordance with AHERA regulations.
  • Conducts inspections of schools and auxiliary properties for compliance with AHERA regulations and in compliance with all SED regulations.
  • Conducts health and safety tests such as air quality, lead, and water testing.
  • Performs surveillance and general safety inspections for OSHA, AHERA and DOL compliance.
  • Contributes to the Health and Safety newsletters, collaborates with other Health and Safety personnel, stays current with trends by attending workshops and seminars related to the Health and Safety profession.
  • Makes regular routine inspections to observe potentially hazardous conditions and work practices.
  • Inspects accident and loss sites to determine causes.
  • Writes inspection reports.
  • Recommends and assists in the development of school Health and Safety programs to include objectives and procedures for identifying, controlling, and reporting hazardous conditions and practices.
  • Provides advise to school districts relative to each health and safety problem.
  • Assists in a comprehensive program of safety education and training, which includes bulletins, manuals, contests, and other safety-awareness techniques.
  • Conducts safety training with appropriate school personnel such as RTK and Bloodborne Pathogen.
  • As requested, acts as liaison with advisory committees and school officials relative to a health and safety program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
